Engineer Ver\u00f3nica Cano, a technician in Renewable Energy Studies and Projects, led a workshop for over 20 children in Years 4 and 6 at the CEIP Crist\u00f3bal Col\u00f3n<\/strong><\/a> Primary School in Albacete<\/strong><\/a>, as part of the school\u2019s Renewable Energy<\/strong> Week.<\/p>\n\n

The day included a workshop in the Year 4 classroom and participation in the radio programme Onda Microl\u00f3n<\/strong>, organised by the school and broadcast on the Nova Onda radio<\/strong><\/a> station.<\/p>\n\n

Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas\u2019 values brought into the classroom<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

The event proved to be highly engaging for the pupils, who enthusiastically asked questions about the initiatives being carried out at Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas. Cano explained each of the areas, highlighting the importance of the group in promoting solutions that ensure the development of a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy model.<\/p>\n\n

The Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas Group<\/a> is one of the Spanish companies with the widest international presence in the sector. The students learned about numerous projects and infrastructure developed by Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas around the world.<\/p>\n\n

Environmental care, a cornerstone of education<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas promotes solutions that ensure an efficient, reliable and sustainable energy supply. As part of the Renewable Energy Week organised by the school, the session led by Ver\u00f3nica Cano focused on the importance of environmental care.<\/p>\n\n

The students learned about the role that renewable energy plays today, but especially its long-term impact. The commitment to a more efficient energy future is significant and already has targets set within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with key measures such as a 46% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 at the latest.<\/p>\n\n

The pupils asked what they could do to help protect the environment. Our engineer emphasised the responsibility we have as a society: \u201cAt home, we must be careful not to leave lights on, and choose energy-efficient bulbs\u2026 there is so much we can do to help the environment from our own homes; the future lies with you, and you must understand how important it is to care for the planet\u201d.<\/p>\n\n

One of the pupils\u2019 concerns was what happens to the natural environment when infrastructure construction begins. Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas is firmly committed to implementing environmental measures; in all projects, actions are taken such as the removal and protection of wildlife in the affected areas, as well as crop diversification and rotation practices. These actions reflect the company\u2019s commitment to the ecological transition and the preservation of the natural environment.<\/p>\n\n

Participation in school events underscores Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas\u2019 commitment to raising awareness and promoting individual and collective responsibility within society to build a cleaner, more sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n

The role of women in engineering<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Many of the questions focused on Ver\u00f3nica Cano\u2019s professional life, asking how she got started in the world of engineering and what her journey has been like to join a company such as Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas. \u201cEver since I was little, I\u2019ve loved maths and physics, which helped me decide which studies to pursue in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Cano highlighted the low number of women in fields such as engineering. For example, at the Albacete Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering, only 20% of enrolled students are women.<\/p>\n\n

Attending these sessions helps to raise the profile of women\u2019s roles in technical sectors. Through Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas and its Equality Plan, the group ensures that men and women have equal opportunities in terms of access, participation, promotion, pay and job security across the group\u2019s companies. The Equality Plan reflects the Eiffage Energ\u00eda Sistemas Group\u2019s commitment to equal opportunities.<\/p>\n\n

Through initiatives such as this, the company reaffirms its role as an active agent in sharing knowledge and raising awareness among younger generations towards a more responsible energy model.
