Eiffage Energía’s Information Technology department is ready to face the new work scenario


ICT in the new work scenario. During the state of emergency, Eiffage Energía’s IT department was able to confirm that its systems could handle the abrupt change that took place with the teleworking model. A situation that presented many difficulties, as it was necessary to maintain a balance between the operability and the security of the company’s assets. 

“We are ready to face the new scenario with guarantees of success,” affirms Francisco Javier Cuenca García, Eiffage Energía’s IT director.

This department has made a contribution in the radical shift that has taken place in the way we work. Absorbing the human and technological workload that this transformation entailed in such a short period of time.

Improvised solutions and risks for companies

Teleworking is a system that most companies have unexpectedly had to put in place during the pandemic caused by COVID19. Accordingly, they have had to adopt, to a greater or lesser degree, teleworking methods and measures to keep their businesses operational. Improvised solutions caused by a lack of planning have put many companies at risk and caused heavy losses in others, due to attacks fostered by holes in their infrastructures. In the current situation, we have to think that “not everything goes” in the effort to enable teleworking, and about what we expose ourselves to when we rely on “unprofessional” methods, “home-made solutions” or “bright ideas”.

The company’s investment in technology in recent years has made it possible to apply quality technological solutions to deal with this new way of working, as well as minimise the impact of this situation.



ICT in the new work scenario. How have we helped each other?

VoIP and unified communicationstechnology . These are systems that support voice communications, both fixed and mobile. They have made it possible to answer calls from our clients and suppliers without major complications, regardless of the operator’s location. –VPN connections, through our perimeter protection equipment, guaranteeing secure access to company data. –Robust connectivity, which has enabled us to provide access with sufficient bandwidth to our users, both face-to-face and teleworkers –Video conferencing systems, using platforms and service providers to ensure that distance between workgroups is no longer a problem.

And, of course, we have been helped by the professionals that make up the ICT department. Professionals who have been able to adapt to the disparate working conditions, infrastructures and circumstances, as well as to the rise in the number of incidents. 

The application of automated working methods ensured there was no collapse and that the company’s operational continuity can be guaranteed at all times.
