Eiffage Energía Sistemas refurbishes the CEDT to house the Regional Transfusion Centre

The new Regional Transfusion Centre has just been inaugurated at the ‘San Ildefonso’ Centre for Specialisation, Diagnosis and Treatment (CEDT) in Toledo. Eiffage Energía Sistemas was the company responsible for carrying out the refurbishment of the CEDT to accommodate this regional health service resource. A total budget of 1,633,000 euros was available, and its execution took 6 months.

The new centre was opened by the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García Page. The event was attended by our National Director of Distribution and Facilities, Domingo Molina, accompanied by the team responsible for executing the project.

Works

The work consisted of redistributing and renovating the ground floor and semi-basement of the CEDT. This action was 85 percent co-financed by the European Union. In addition to the refurbishment of the building and facilities, new furniture was installed, along with new equipment for the donation, laboratory and fractionation area, and five structural chambers for the storage of blood components and freezing equipment. The facilities of the tissue and cell therapy area were also incorporated. On the ground floor is the collection area with a reception desk, offices for the Blood Donors Association, a triage room and an administrative area. This area includes a library, offices, administrative work spaces, the tissue bank (with a freezing area and clean room), and quality control rooms. The semi-basement houses the laboratory area, which consists of three distinct zones: Immunohaematology; Serology and Molecular Biology, with different cold storage chambers and a work area.

News

The new Regional Transfusion Centre has seen an increase from six to ten in the number of blood extraction chairs. The aim is to encourage blood donation in the city of Toledo, as well as to offer greater comfort. The blood fractionation and pathogen inactivation area has also undergone a technological refurbishment and two clean rooms have been added for tissue and cell therapy processes.
