Photovoltaics gain ground from Spain to Latin America

2022 was a successful year for Eiffage Energía Sistemas in both Spain and South America, with a record number of wind and photovoltaic plants built, exceeding 1 GW of installed capacity.

Notable projects include Arcos (233 MW) and Pizarro (200 MW), which confirm our consolidation in Spain while we develop our activities in South America. Last year, we completed two major projects in Chile: Domeyko and Guanchoi, with 204 MW and 174 MW of installed power respectively.

“The market on this continent is developing rapidly. Activity in South America is decreasing in the countries that are more mature in these technologies, such as Chile and Mexico”, says José Ignacio Rodríguez Vera, director of solar construction in the renewable energy department. “But new countries such as Peru and Colombia are accelerating their transition and embarking on ambitious projects”.

A growing market

“Rapid intercontinental expansion is due to a demand for renewable energy. Growth is not slowing down. There is a fundamental movement in favour of non-conventional energy, especially solar energy”, explains José Ignacio Rodríguez Vera. “In just a few years, we have gone from developing projects with a capacity of less than 1GW in Europe to projects of several tens of GW

Eiffage Energía Sistemas participates in renewable energy projects in Spain, Chile, Colombia, Jamaica, Peru, France and Portugal, covering the entire value chain. From preliminary studies to installation, maintenance, connection to substations and technical support for customers. This global experience allows us to see the future more clearly.

New ambitions

Over the next few years, Eiffage Energía Sistemas expects strong growth, driven in particular by the development of our customer portfolio and the performance of our solar and wind facilities. And we are looking to the future. “A five-year strategic plan sets out very clear general, commercial and economic objectives. This plan includes a comprehensive analysis of our SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) in order to identify the actions needed to achieve them,” emphasises the solar construction manager.

Our aim is to set ourselves apart through our competitive prices, lead times and the quality of our work. “Once again this year, we have gained a great deal of experience and are better able to analyse our customers’ needs, which is an asset for the future.”

The reduction in CO₂ emissions generated by these new facilities is an achievement of which we are proud. A key example of this is the Arcos project, which will avoid the emission of 120,000 tonnes of carbon per year.
