More than 200 of the company’s professionals worked on the ground to restore power to the most affected areas of Valencia and Albacete.
One year ago, a DANA (isolated high-altitude depression) struck the Spanish Levante region with force, causing severe flooding, material damage and the irreparable loss of human lives. Coinciding with this anniversary and the state funeral in memory of the victims, Eiffage Energía Sistemas joins the collective tribute, expressing its respect and support for all those affected and their families.
At the same time, the company recalls the effort, commitment and responsiveness of more than 200 professionals who participated in the emergency and recovery work, working tirelessly to restore power and return thousands of homes to normal.
From the outset, Eiffage Energía Sistemas mobilised teams from different branches to work in the most affected areas, particularly in the provinces of Valencia and Albacete, where heavy rain and wind had caused numerous incidents on the electricity grid.
Noteworthy actions
In coordination with the authorities and distribution companies, Eiffage Energía Sistemas teams managed to restore power in record time to multiple critical facilities:
- At the Oliveral Substation (Ribarroja and surrounding areas), power was restored to more than 12 lines in just 36 hours, thanks to the joint efforts of the Substations, High Voltage Maintenance and Distribution departments of the Valencia, Alicante and Murcia branches.
- The teams worked on damaged transformer stations, low and medium voltage lines and the reconstruction of many electrical supports torn down by the storm.
- In several municipalities in the Torrente Sector, including Chiva, Cheste, Siete Aguas and Torrente, and others in the Sagunto Sector, personnel were reinforced and additional resources were mobilised from other areas.
- In the province of Albacete, especially in Letur, there was active collaboration with the emergency services and the fire brigade to ensure the removal of fallen lines and mitigate electrical risks.
- In addition, measures were implemented at more than 20 transformer stations and new medium-voltage feeders were built to restore supply in areas that depended on generators.
Gratitude and commitment
The work of the Eiffage Energía Sistemas teams was publicly recognised by the institutions and by Redeia (formerly Red Eléctrica de España), whose president, Beatriz Corredor, publicly expressed her gratitude for the rapid response and technical coordination demonstrated during the days of emergency.
For Eiffage Energía Sistemas, this intervention reaffirms its commitment to safety, efficiency and solidarity, the pillars that guide its daily work.
The deployment of human and technical resources during the DANA demonstrated the company’s operational capacity and its dedication to service in critical situations.
Looking to the future
One year later, Eiffage Energía Sistemas continues to work on improving and strengthening electrical infrastructure, with the aim of increasing its resilience to extreme weather events. The company continues to actively participate in plans to rebuild and improve electrical infrastructure as an active partner in the plans designed for this purpose by the main supplier (IL-LUMINA plan).
This experience has served to strengthen action protocols, improve interdepartmental coordination, and continue to prioritize people’s safety and service continuity.
On this day of remembrance and reflection, Eiffage Energía Sistemas would like to once again express its gratitude for the work and dedication of all the professionals who took part in that operation, as well as the collaboration of customers, government agencies, and emergency services, who made it possible to quickly restore the power supply.
Above all, it keeps alive the tribute to the victims of the DANA and their families, reiterating its commitment to continue working with responsibility, humanity, and energy to prevent, protect, and serve.
