Eiffage Energía Sistemas has just completed a photovoltaic self-consumption installation project for the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) at its headquarters at Paseo de la Castellana, 63 (Madrid).
A total of 572 photovoltaic panels have been installed, reaching a peak power of over 100 kWp, which will contribute to a reduction in primary energy consumption of at least 30%, in line with the objectives set by the PRTR.
This action reinforces the commitment of the Ministry and Eiffage Energía Sistemas to decarbonisation, energy efficiency, and architectural integration of renewable solutions in unique urban environments.
Sustainable facilities
The project involves the implementation of a self-consumption installation designed to cover part of the building’s energy demand using clean, local energy. The project has a budget of almost €700,000 and is part of Sustainable Installations, in the field of photovoltaics for self-consumption.
Architectural integration and advanced technical solutions
One of the most notable aspects of the project is its specific design for total integration with the building, both aesthetically and structurally.
The installation incorporates opaque, non-glare photovoltaic panels with a specific chrome finish, designed to blend in with the façade and roof of the building, respecting the architectural image of the Nuevos Ministerios complex.
Likewise, the system is supported by a ballasted structure without perforating the roof, avoiding damage to the existing waterproofing and ensuring the durability of the building. The design has been adapted to the metal structure of the roof, optimising the installation of the modules and the safety of the installation.
Scope of the work
The work carried out by Eiffage Energía Sistemas includes:
- Installation of the photovoltaic system for self-consumption on the roof.
- Interior refurbishment to create a technical room for the photovoltaic equipment.
- Distribution of electrical cabling from the roof to the technical areas of the building.
- Refurbishment of the storage area, facilitating both the channelling of the installations and future maintenance work.
- Coordination of various specialised contracts, covering electrical installation, interior refurbishment, roof waterproofing, permanent security systems, and mechanical assemblies.
The installation is completed with four three-phase inverters with a nominal power of 25 kW, equipped with maximum power point trackers (MPPT), which guarantee efficient energy production management and optimal adaptation to different solar irradiation conditions. The entire system is integrated into the building’s internal electrical network through a specific technical room.
A project in line with the energy transition
This project consolidates Eiffage Energía Sistemas as a strategic partner of public administrations in the development of sustainable energy infrastructures.
The installation will enable MITECO to advance its objectives of reducing CO₂ emissions, improving energy efficiency, and promoting the use of renewable energies. It will turn its own headquarters into a tangible example of the ecological transition it is promoting at the national level.
The project reflects Eiffage Energía Sistemas’ ability to offer innovative, sustainable, and fully integrated technical solutions, adapted to the specific needs of each client and the environment in which they are developed.
