Eiffage Energía begins work on Spain’s largest self-consumption photovoltaic facility developed by Cosentino

Self-consumption. Eiffage Energía begins work on what will be the largest 100% photovoltaic self-consumption facility in Spain, and one of the largest in Europe, developed by the CosentinoGroup. We will be responsible for the installation of almost 37,000 solar panels, 540Wp each and with a fixed structure, on land spanning over 40 hectares. The facility is located in the municipalities of Partaloa and Cantoria, within the Industrial Estate the multinational has in Almeria. Most of the plant belongs to the municipality of Cantoria and a small part belongs to the municipality of Partaloa. With this project, which will be active during the first quarter of 2022, Cosentino will be establishing a new model for renewable electricity management in Spain’s industrial field. The facility will have a power level of around 20MWp. It will generate approximately 34,000 MWh per year, representing around 25% of Cosentino’s annual consumption.

Self-generated photovoltaic energy

Thanks to this system, which will involve a total investment of over 10 million euros, approximately 25% of the total electrical energy will not only be green but will also be self-generated photovoltaic energy, reinforcing Cosentino’s sustainability policy. This policy is shared by our company, which avoids the emission of more than 13 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. This is made possible by our low-carbon strategy, which aims for an overall reduction in emissions across the value chain. Photovoltaic self-consumption Thus, this project will not only contribute to reducing Cosentino’s carbon footprint, but will also combine a biodiversity recovery initiative. Thus, 15 hectares forming part of the solar farm will be dedicated to a biodiversity project, based on the planting of native flora and species.
