Eiffage Energía Sistemas has, for the first time, given specialist training to vocational training students in the use of drones to inspect high-voltage power lines (LAAT). This action is part of the innovation project “Inspection of High Voltage Lines using Drones”, which is being run by CIFP Aguas Nuevas, in collaboration with our company.
The project has been developed as part of the Network of Centres of Excellence in Vocational Training of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. The aim is to introduce students to the most advanced technologies being applied to the energy sector, as a sustainable and efficient alternative to the traditional use of helicopters to conduct inspections.
Applied technical training and real world experience
Eiffage Energía Sistemas’ participation consisted of three practical sessions held at our facilities and designed to offer students real work experience: from theoretical sessions to a real inspection of a prototype line using drones equipped with thermal and visual cameras.
- Theoretical and equipment preparation workshop at our premises in Albacete, where technical and operational aspects of drones used in electrical inspections were addressed.
- Field inspection of a prototype line in the La Roda area, using drones equipped with thermal and visual cameras.
- Analysis of results and conclusions, also at our facilities, where the students learned how to interpret the data obtained and to apply it in predictive maintenance.
This training, which was given by experts from Eiffage Energía Sistemas, marks a milestone in the collaboration between companies and public vocational training, being the first time that this type of training has been offered at national level by the business sector.
Commitment to talent and innovation
At Eiffage Energía Sistemas we are firmly committed to specialist training, technological innovation and sustainability. We have been using drones for years to inspect power lines and renewable energy installations, such as solar and wind power plants, at our operational bases in Albacete and Madrid. This type of initiative allows us to share our knowledge and create opportunities for future experts in the sector.
Thanks to the teaching staff of CIFP Aguas Nuevas for their involvement, especially to the project’s director, Ángel Villalba, and to Lázaro García, and to the students for their motivation and commitment.
This is a further step towards a more efficient, connected and sustainable energy future.
