On 30 June, Eiffage Energía Sistemas concluded its participation in Healthy Cities, a challenge that promotes healthy lifestyles among the public and helps build more sustainable cities.
The initiative was extremely well received within the company: 904 employees joined the challenge, making this the edition with the highest participation to date.
The programme, promoted by Sanitas, encourages participants to walk 6,000 steps a day between 1 May and 30 June and to leave their cars at home whenever possible. Participants organize themselves into teams and record their steps via a free app. Depending on their consistency, Sanitas donates funds allocated to planting trees in cities.
An edition marked by success
The awards ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee, was attended by Pedro Salvador from the Human Resources department and María Ángeles Castellanos, Director of Communications at Eiffage Energía Sistemas Group.
At the gala, the company received two awards in recognition of its outstanding participation over the two-month challenge.
The first was third place in the company ranking, in which 112 teams competed. The second was the Healthy Cities Badge for Positive Impact on Health and the Environment, an award that highlights commitment and consistency. At least 5% of the workforce took part in the initiative, and over 50% of active registered participants earned a medal by maintaining the daily target of 6,000 steps for at least half the duration of the challenge.
Our participation in figures
These two awards reflect the collective effort of the workforce. In total, Eiffage Energía Sistemas teams accumulated nearly 226 million steps, averaging 514 daily steps per person—equivalent to completing 3.76 laps around the Earth.
Consistency was equally remarkable. The team earned 176 gold, 86 silver, and 42 bronze medals—a result demonstrating that the vast majority of participants not only joined the challenge but sustained it through to the end.
Sustainable cities
Another challenge within Healthy Cities was “Leave your car at home”, which 58 Eiffage Energía Sistemas employees signed up for, avoiding the emission of nearly 54 kg of CO₂.
With this edition, Healthy Cities consolidates an eleven-year track record in promoting healthy habits and more sustainable urban environments. Since its inception, nearly 150,000 people have joined the challenge, and Sanitas has allocated more than three million euros to planting over 100,000 trees in Spain.
Eiffage Energía Sistemas’ participation in Healthy Cities reflects a corporate culture where employee wellbeing and environmental stewardship are part of everyday operations. It is a commitment that continues to grow, edition after edition.
