Eiffage Energía Sistemas and its subsidiaries, Inelbo and Sistemas de Gestión, Automatización y Cuadros (SGAC), have been responsible for carrying out the electrical and control installation at Roig Arena, the multi-purpose venue that has just opened its doors in Valencia.
The project reinforces the company’s position as a leader in complex, large-scale infrastructure, providing innovative, safe and efficient solutions.
Key figures for the installation
The scope of the project carried out by Eiffage Energía Sistemas includes the management and execution of the venue’s electrical installations; installation of the building’s control cabling (lighting, air conditioning and other technical installations); ordinary and emergency lighting; architectural façade lighting; and development of the Facilities Management System (SGI), which centralises the control of air conditioning, lighting and other systems in the venue. The scope also extends to the adjacent car park building (8 floors, 1,034 spaces).
The work took three years to complete, with up to 160 workers coordinated during critical phases of the project.
The result includes energisation and commissioning with guaranteed service continuity through automatic switching to generator sets; a centralised emergency system for critical lighting; and centralised control of all the complex’s facilities from a single point.
Strengths that made the difference
Throughout the execution of the project, Eiffage Energía Sistemas demonstrated its main competitive advantages:
- Scalability of the team, increasing from 60 to 160 operators in a short period of time, while maintaining quality, safety and productivity.
- Proposals for improvement and optimisation of planned facilities.
- Technical expertise in management and automation systems, with up to 15 integrators working during peak periods.
- In-house control engineering to standardise communications and equipment operation.
- Operational reliability: architecture with automatic switching to generator sets and centralised emergency system.
- Advanced logistics: just-in-time procurement, prefabrication, pre-labelling and zoned stock management.
- Workshop deployed on site with up to 14 dedicated personnel.
- Execution in a unique environment, with coordination of multiple trades in very limited work windows.
- Visible ORP (Occupational Risk Prevention) culture in addition to FAT (factory acceptance testing) and SAT (site acceptance testing) on all systems.
A success story
Eiffage Energía Sistemas’ work at the Roig Arena is considered a success story for the company for several reasons, including on-time delivery with staggered energisation phases; guaranteed service continuity through automatic switching and critical load selectivity; an outstanding end-user experience: sports and architectural lighting that meets international standards; and complete documentation and traceability (as-built), facilitating operation and maintenance from day one.
More than just a technical project
The Roig Arena is establishing itself as a cultural and sports hub in Valencia, with the capacity to attract international events, boost the local economy and strengthen Spain’s international profile in large multi-purpose venues.
In addition to its architectural and technological scale, the project will leave a social and cultural legacy, promoting youth sports, educational programmes and new opportunities for urban revitalisation.
In the words of José Manuel Martínez, CEO of Eiffage Energía Sistemas, “this project demonstrates our ability to combine engineering, innovation and reliability in one of the most advanced venues in Europe. We are very proud to have contributed to making the Roig Arena a reality.”
