“Safety doesn’t happen by itself”: Eiffage Energía Sistemas reinforces its commitment to safe mobility as the foundation of workplace safety

Today, 28 April, marks World Day for Safety and Health at Work, a key date that reminds us that protecting health and safety is a shared responsibility and a fundamental, non-negotiable pillar of the culture of the Eiffage Energía Sistemas Group.

Road safety, the company’s main prevention campaign for 2026

Road traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of workplace incidents within the company. According to data from the Health and Safety Department, in 2025 they accounted for 29% of all recorded accidents, many of which could have been prevented through more responsible behaviour and increased attention at the wheel.

Journeys, whether commuting, undertaken as part of professional duties, or for personal reasons, form an essential part of the working day. As such, they entail continuous exposure to risks that must be carefully managed. Adopting a preventive approach, based on responsibility and constant vigilance, is key to minimising these risks and ensuring safety.

At Eiffage Energía Sistemas, we strongly encourage caution and individual responsibility when driving. In this regard, it is essential to pause and reflect on the following key points before setting off on each journey and while driving:

  • Obey traffic regulations: they form the essential basis for safe and orderly mobility, as well as the primary safeguard against road incidents.
  • Avoid distractions at all times: using a mobile phone, handling electronic devices, or even momentary lapses in concentration can have irreversible consequences in a matter of seconds.
  • Do not be overconfident in adverse conditions: factors such as tiredness, stress, or a slight feeling of unwellness can significantly compromise your attention span, reflexes and decision-making behind the wheel. If you are not in optimal condition, safety must be prioritised by considering alternatives to travelling or, where possible, postponing the journey.
  • Adapt your driving to the environment: weather conditions (rain, fog, ice), road conditions and traffic density require you to constantly adjust your speed and driving style.
  • Always use safety systems: seatbelts, for both the driver and passengers, as well as child restraint systems, are not an option but an essential and mandatory measure that saves lives and significantly reduces the severity of injuries in the event of an accident.

Road safety, the central theme of Safety Week 2026

From 8 to 12 June, a new edition of Eiffage Energía Sistemas’ Safety Week will be held across Europe, under the slogan “Understanding the root causes of errors”.

On this occasion, the initiative will focus on applying neuroscience to the field of health and safety, with the aim of exploring the factors that influence human behaviour and decision-making. Through this approach, the aim is to strengthen a culture of prevention and promote safer behaviours that contribute to the continuous improvement of working conditions.

At Eiffage Energía Sistemas España, road safety will play a prominent role in the event, continuing the commemoration of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, celebrated today.

Throughout the sessions that make up Safety Week, there will be contributions from road safety experts, including representatives from the Civil Guard, healthcare professionals specialising in injuries resulting from road traffic accidents, as well as first-hand testimonies from people affected by such incidents.

Among the main new features to be presented are the latest accident rates relating to traffic incidents, the adaptation of the company’s Six Key Points, and the introduction of a new Driving Commitment Charter.

New digital tools will also be introduced, designed to monitor and analyse various driving parameters across the more than 3,800 vehicles that make up the company’s fleet. This initiative will enable deviations to be identified and corrected at an early stage, whilst promoting the recognition and encouragement of good driving habits.

An active commitment to health and safety: cross-cutting initiatives across all areas of the company

Complementing Safety Week, the Joint Prevention Service will launch a range of preventive campaigns across the company’s different business lines. Among these, the STOP 5 – Ladders initiative stands out, aimed at reinforcing pre-work assessments before using any portable ladder, promoting safer task planning and the early identification of risks.

Furthermore, specific prevention campaigns are being developed focusing on the safe use of cutting tools, strengthening the role of team leaders as key agents in prevention, and enhancing on-site safety inspections, among other actions.

Similarly, specific campaigns to prevent smoking and raise awareness of alcohol and substance abuse will be promoted, in collaboration with the organisation Proyecto Hombre, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the safety, health and well-being of people both inside and outside the workplace.

Individual and collective commitment are essential factors in ensuring safety on the move. The safety of every individual, along with that of their families and colleagues, is a core value of the company.

Only through our joint involvement can we move towards a robust and sustainable safety culture; together, we must strive for excellence in safety.
