Eiffage Energía Sistemas is backing inclusive sport once again. For the second year in a row, we have signed a partnership agreement with the Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities of Castilla-La Mancha (FECAM).
Driving inclusive sport
The aim is to drive activities that give sport continued support, especially at regional level, through non-profit organisations whose purposes include promoting sport and involving their members. Through the agreement, we are helping to develop programmes across Castilla-La Mancha that get people with intellectual disabilities playing sport and that support their care.
As José Manuel Martínez, CEO of Eiffage Energía Sistemas and Eiffage’s representative in Spain and Portugal, puts it: “We are a company defined by diversity and inclusion. This partnership is a great opportunity to help in every way we can.”
With this alliance, Eiffage Energía Sistemas strengthens its commitment to corporate social responsibility and to values such as inclusion, equality and social cohesion. For FECAM, backing from companies with real presence and standing in the region is key, because it brings the stability and resources needed to keep its sports programmes running.
The initiative stands as an example of corporate commitment that goes beyond a financial contribution, since it means getting directly involved in projects with a high social and community impact.
A date firmly in the diary
We signed the agreement at the 15th FECAM National Inclusive 8-a-side Football Championship, a tournament for mixed teams of players with and without intellectual disabilities. Thirty teams from 22 clubs took part this year, ten of them from other Spanish regions. Altogether, 257 athletes with intellectual disabilities and 95 without competed side by side, supported by 41 coaches and delegates.
For Eiffage Energía Sistemas, the championship has already become a regular fixture, and José Manuel Martínez confirms as much: “It’s a priority for us, and we intend to keep supporting it for as many years as it takes.”
